February 27, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

With the Nintendo DSi console set to launch in time for Easter, UK retailer GAME have announced plans to supply the handheld Nintendo console for only £74.99 when you trade in an old console.

The announcement is the first move in the price war between video game retailers as the anticipation of the DSi’s launch on April 3rd starts to heat up.

With the DSi console set to retail at £149.99, the launch day offer from GAME means you will be saving an incredibly 50% on the latest must have video game console.

Forget searching online for the latest voucher codes when you can simply trade in your old XBOX 360, Song PSP, Nintendo Wii or DS Lite and get your Nintendo DSi for half price.

“”We’re working closely with Nintendo to organise a huge launch, which is perfectly timed for the Easter holidays,” says Robert Quinn, GAME’s operating director.

With Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and Pokémon Platinum coming out around the time of the DSi’s launch and a back catalogue of hundreds of utterly fantastic titles to choose from, gamers are sure to have a fantastic time with their favourite touchy-feely handheld, whether they’re upgrading their Lite or “Phat” consoles or buying one for the first time.

Nintendo gearing up for DSi launch?

February 13, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

Rumours are growing that the launch of the DSi console could be imminent after Nintendo announced that the Onyx/Black Nintendo DS Lite system has been discontinued. Retailers were requested to remove the product from their range once their last stock was gone.

In its daily newsletter, Gamestop writes that “DS Lite Onyx hardware systems have been discontinued and stores will no longer be replenished on this product. Once your store sells through its current stock of this item, please remove any empty DS Onyx display boxes (onyx color only) from the sales floor and discard.”

With the DSi console rumoued to be launching in early April, the move is seem to be in preparation for the release of the new console. The Onyx DS Lite and the Japanese Onyx DSi systems look strikingly similar, so removing the Onyx DS Lite from active inventory may be a strategy by Nintendo to eliminate retail confusion for when the company releases the DSi this year.

Nintendo have yet to comment on the speculation.
