The new, portable device – the latest version of the popular Nintendo DS series, was released in the UK and US last week and has been flying off the shelves, largely thanks to pre-orders.
Pre-order sales on the portable systems were very strong according to retailers, which makes sense considering it was the first new portable console in a long time.
Priced at £149.99, the DSi has outsold all other console hardware combined in the UK. Retailers have been predicting stock shortages so even now, it’s not too early to plan ahead for Christmas!
Check out the Nintendo DSi best price.
]]>The new DSi console has a retail price of £149 and is set to be a big hit with consumers. Previous launches of major consoles including the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft’s XBOX 360 as well as the Playstation 3, have left consumers waiting months for more stock as they sold out on the launch day.
Don McCabe, from UK retailer Chips warned:
“The supply is tight, there’s just not a great amount of stock out there. Basically everything that we’re getting in is already pre-sold before it hits the shop floor. It’s a 100 per cent sell out for us.”
Don’t gamble on stocks being available – pre-order your console today!
]]>The first batch of consoles from Nintendo will only be available in black and white colours, but the gaming giants have now announced that three new colours are on their way.
Out of the new colours, the Pink DSi is likely to be the best seller. When looking at the most searched for words in Google, Pink DSi far out ranks any other colour. Two other nice looking colours are the Green DSi and the Blue DSi.
As nice as the new colours look, there’s no real reason to wait for them rather than ordering the black or white versions. These colours have only been announced in Japan and it may not be until 2010 that they appear in this country.

]]>As the price war between major retailers starts to heat up, the retail giants are offering the Accessories kit (normally priced at £19.99) completely free of charge when you pre-order your console from the Argos website.
To take advantage of this offer, you just need to add the kit to your basket alongside the DSi console and it the price will be automatically adjusted without the need for a voucher code.
Click here to take advantage of this great offer.
The Nintendo DSi is released on April 3rd and is expected to be one of the hottest selling gaming products of 2009.
Some key facts of the Nintendo DSi console:
The accessories kit includes soft case, game cartridge storage case, 2 DS stylus, stereo earphones, wrist strap, 12v car power adaptor, screen protector and applicator and soft cleaning cloth.
]]>Nintendo’s General Manager in the UK David Yanton issued the warning earlier this week in an interview with Times Online.
“I always advise people to buy early. One of the things that people don’t seem to understand is that factories are producing constantly; they don’t peak and trough. So we’re producing product all the time, but then everyone wants it all at the one end of the year. It’s just so hard to try and keep up.”
While the claim could be viewed as a sales tactic from Nintendo, it is a claim not made without supporting evidence as in recent years, newly released consoles such as Microsoft’s XBOX 360 and the Nintendo Wii have seen such a rush on their products that they have been sold out and consumers have been forced either to pay inflated eBay prices for consoles or to go without.

The announcement is the first move in the price war between video game retailers as the anticipation of the DSi’s launch on April 3rd starts to heat up.
With the DSi console set to retail at £149.99, the launch day offer from GAME means you will be saving an incredibly 50% on the latest must have video game console.
Forget searching online for the latest voucher codes when you can simply trade in your old XBOX 360, Song PSP, Nintendo Wii or DS Lite and get your Nintendo DSi for half price.
“”We’re working closely with Nintendo to organise a huge launch, which is perfectly timed for the Easter holidays,” says Robert Quinn, GAME’s operating director.
With Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and Pokémon Platinum coming out around the time of the DSi’s launch and a back catalogue of hundreds of utterly fantastic titles to choose from, gamers are sure to have a fantastic time with their favourite touchy-feely handheld, whether they’re upgrading their Lite or “Phat” consoles or buying one for the first time.
]]>The new Nintendo DSi is available to pre order now for delivery from 03/04/2009 at Dixons.co.uk.
Nintendo DSi Black now £149.99 – available for pre-order
Packed with features, but thinner than ever! In addition to all of the new features, the Nintendo DSi is a full 12% thinner than the DS Lite, making it Nintendo’s most portable handheld ever.
Nintendo DSi White now £149.99 – available for pre-order

In its daily newsletter, Gamestop writes that “DS Lite Onyx hardware systems have been discontinued and stores will no longer be replenished on this product. Once your store sells through its current stock of this item, please remove any empty DS Onyx display boxes (onyx color only) from the sales floor and discard.”
With the DSi console rumoued to be launching in early April, the move is seem to be in preparation for the release of the new console. The Onyx DS Lite and the Japanese Onyx DSi systems look strikingly similar, so removing the Onyx DS Lite from active inventory may be a strategy by Nintendo to eliminate retail confusion for when the company releases the DSi this year.
Nintendo have yet to comment on the speculation.
